Coastal Training with Midshipmen of the 82nd Class

I spent ten days embarked with midshipmen of the 82nd class during coastal training, visiting Ulleungdo, Dokdo, Donghae, Pohang, and Busan. Going ashore on Dokdo and taking part in an amphibious landing on Ulleungdo from an LST-II landing ship were particularly memorable experiences. The professionalism of the officers entrusted with the midshipmen's leadership development offered a glimpse of their future as naval officers. Above all, our conversations gave me valuable insight into life as a midshipman.
